Quiet Times for me, Lola and Franklin, too

"So what's Lola been up to lately?", you may (or may not) wonder. Not much. Between Blog Mom's injury which wasn't supposed to heal for weeks and weeks (and she just managed to set it back a week or so) and the heat, after the big excitement of Franklin's arrival I've been doing a lot of nothing much. There was a VET visit for shots and some horrid, painful ear cleaning. Alpha Mom finally made him stop. Now I have medication, but I got  a shot for it, too and it made my meaty mouth shrink up a bit. It'll come back,  I'm pretty sure. Franklin didn't need shots, but he got checked out,  and his ears were assaulted as well. It should come as no surprise that I was very good and he wasn't.

We often see eye to eye on things
But when we don't, he knows looks up to whom in this team
We're still working on him and getting to know all about him. I pretty much have him under my paw, but the humans feel he needs further training from where they sit so that he'll mature into a  the really good dog he almost is. He's not going to be as good as me, Lola, I'm fairly certain. But good enough. It's too bad they can't learn from me. He's not only my little brother. He's now pretty much available to me as a minion, should I ever require one. He might still be growing, which is a teensy bit alarming. He seems a little taller. He's filling out and his collar had to be loosened by one hole. He still looks like he was built out of spare Pei parts, though.

Yesterday was the first day that we got some relief from the heat and could enjoy the backyard a little instead of just doing what we had to and going right in.
Where's my min...I mean my little brother?
Franklin here, reporting for whatever you should want, Big Sis!
That's been life around here. Franklin's going to get microchipped on Thursday night. He's going to PetSmart for that, so I really, really hope I get to go, too. And I sure hope the temperatures stay down for a while for everybuddy who's been sweltering all summer.

  3. I'm so glad the weather has cooled off some for you....it hasn't really done that here. I love that photo of you and Franklin on the bench. Trips to the vet are not fun but just try to remember that pain you went through was nothing compared to what it could be if you didn't get those cute ears of yours cleaned.

  6. Thank you very much for updating us on Life with Lola! It looks like you and Franklin are getting things all sorted out just fine and that makes me all sorts of happy!

I wouldn't know abouts the minion thing. I'm pretty sure if mom and dad had boughts me that chin-chilly-yah the other day, I could made him into my minion. Sigh.

  7. Spare Pei parts! Tee hee! Lola, you have a wicked wit!

Tell Franklin not to worry a bit about that microchip! Morgan and I got ours last week and it was seriously no big deal at all! I didn't even flinch.

I hope Blog Mom is feeling better soon! Tell her to take it easy!

  9. I dread the ear digging at the VET too... but since our pei ears are susceptible to infection, we just have to endure it *sigh*... glad Franklin is getting along fine... assembled Pei parts! you mean Franklin the Frankenstein!

  13. We are having a break from the heat too and it is wonderful.

I think you have your paws full with that little rascal. Don't worry if he gets bigger, just let him know you are boss and he will (hopefully) stay in line, OK?

  16. Lola,
I, Madi, am very very proud of your command over the baby of the family. You have to let him know that your standing in the family is at least a bench above his. MOL

Oh the dreaded ear cleaning....Mom told me Toto, the family Doxie from the Stone Age, had lots of ear problems something about them being floppy, dark and moist. He did not like ear cleaning either. I'm glad that is over for you and Frankliln.

We had two very nice cool days over the weekend.
The temperatures did not reach above 80 either Sat. nor Sun BUT we'll pay for that this week.
    More high 90s in store.

  18. Hi Lola, nice to meet you - we see you everywhere so it is good to finally get to say hello. Thanks for stopping by our blog and for your good wishes for Phantom.

We think you will like having a brother, just be sure to let him know who is in charge:)

  19. Ear cleaning is a beast of a chore for the humans too. Ozzie is very cooperative because he knows its to help him not hurt him, but still not his favorite event!
Franklin is cool but Lola rules! :)

  20. Little brothers can be quite handy at times. I think you two are going to get to be best friends. I do hope your Mom's injury heals soon so you can all play when the heat lets up.

  21. Hope all is well with you. Stay cool, my friends! I actually like to get my ears cleaned....feels soooo good!

  23. I am proud to see you continue with your training. You know, dogs need consistency, Lola. As for the Petsmart trip, I'd skip it this once if I were you. I mean, haven't you heard of instances when they operate on the wrong person on the wrong body part? What if they accidentally re microchip you?
    Twink!
