Perhaps the Chihuahua Ate Your Baby

Blog Mom's been under the weather again and keeps falling asleep on me. I hope I can keep her awake long enough to do a real post tomorrow. I have a product review to do, pawple! But in the meantime, I just wanted to share this link:

Chihuahua, pomeranian on Queensland's top 100 dangerous dogs list

In Queenland, Australia, Twinkie might have to put up a "Menacing Dog" sign on her property to warn all and sundry about the danger on the premises. Me too, of course, but Shar Pei are on all those lists. I know that chihuahuas can be fierce, but puhleese! Unless you are a human who is under 18 inches tall, man up and deal.

  1. Our human has only ever been bitten by two dogs, one a German Shepherd and the other a Chihuahua. Both dogs were slightly nuts and had nuttier owners. So not sure about being on a list!

  7. I hope Blogmom gets better real soon. Please give her extra snuggles and snuffles from me, okay?

We just hates lists like that. ANY dog can be dangerous and when they put out lists like that, it just makes peoples skeered of certain kinds of doggies and think that all other doggies must be okay. I wish they'd put out a list of dangerous kinds of humans. Now THAT would be worth reading!

I'm not a fan of dangerous breed lists, but I will say that we have encountered a surprisingly large number of chihuahuas who have really nasty attitudes. A dog bite is a dog bite whether it comes from a Great Dane or a Chihuahua. My grandpa was bitten by a blue heeler (a relatively smaller dog, too) and had to go to the hospital for the bites. They warned him that he could get serious infections or disease because he was of a certain age, the bites were on his hands and arms and the dog wasn't vaccinated. He was wrapped up like a mummy. I guess my point is, any dog can be dangerous, and it's too bad that more people don't spend the time to train their dogs and make sure that they're safe to be around people. My guess is that that list is based on statistics about which breeds of dogs have had the most reports of bites, but that still doesn't take into account that every dog is an individual, just like people. If there were a dangerous humans list, I wonder what would happen then!

  12. Lola it's no laughing matter. Of all the dogs in my local park, one of the scariest is a black and white chihuahua. There's very little I'm scared of, but I avoid her if I can.
