Black Friday Shopping List per Frankie

I'm late, I'm late, for a very important imaginary shopping date with Frankie. I have thought and thought about what to get my people for the holidays (we have more than one).

First up, everyone gets cars. The cars they have now are kind of old. They have us instead of new cars and having us is much better, but it would be quite nice to have nice new rides. I think that Daddy would like something a little sporty. Blog Mom just likes smallish sedans that are good on gas. Alpha Mom could use a small, ecologically correct SUV. Maybe a hybrid. It would be good for hauling around saddles and Shar Pei.
Speaking of saddles, I think it would be nice for Alpha Mom to have a new one or two. Maybe one western, because she enjoys that for trail riding and such like, and one for when Sarge does dressage.

And she might as well have some new boots while we're at it. But not leather. Alpha Mom is a vegetabletarian and she doesn't wear leather, either. Franklin and I are not vegetabletarians and we do wear leather upon occasion, in case you were wondering. Different strokes for different species is what I always say.

Daddy would love a home theater with a big screen and great sound system. Blog Mom says he couldn't have one even if they could afford because they've got no place big enough for it, but we'd work that out once it was here, I'm sure.

Blog Mom could use a new kitchen. If she had a kitchen like this I just know she'd start baking home made doggy treats. (Kidding. No, she wouldn't. )

Also the floors. She would like new wood floors all over the house. We'd also need some kind of very strong elves to move everything out of the way in order to put in the floors.

I guess that's a pretty extravagent gift list and they'd be soo happy if they could have all those things, but they wouldn't trade us for any of them, so I guess they've got the most important stuff already.

Pee Ess: We will try to visit as much as possible this evening and in the morning, but Blog Mom will be out for a lot of tomorrow and has things to do to get ready, too. She'll be in the city until all hours of the night tomorrow. We don't think we approve, but so far she's going anyway. So, if we miss you, we'll catch up as soon as we can.

I've Been a Bad Blogger

During this past week or so I have been a terrible blogger and in the last day or so, I've even fallen behind with some furiends' blogs. I hope to catch up some this weekend. Blog Mom says it's been rather fraught here lately. "Fraught" is a word she tends to use at the times when her face gets all tense and things are going wrong. Things this time around involve going to human vets a lot, mostly with Daddy. Plus she hasn't got her lame foot fixed yet, because the foot vet is waiting for approval from the insurance company. So far he only got approval to look at it.

Then there were the plumbing problems. Humans absolutely require a lot more plumbing than we dogs do. All this has resulted not only in a lack of blog posts, but also a bit of a dirth of new pictures of me, Lola. I'm putting in an older one so you won't forget what I look like.
Me, when people had time to take my picture

Some of this, of course, is to be expected when you adopt older and special needs humans. If Daddy had been on Petfinders he would have had one of those little hearts under his name.Thank Dog that Alpha Mom is still in pretty good shape. I don't regret it a bit, though. Older and special needs humans need dogs at least as much as younger humans do. Someone has to do it, and they show their appreciation every day, even though you really can't tell it by our recent blogging frequency.

Thank You All

Things here are looking better, I guess. Blog Mom says that Daddy's vet says he's out of the woods. I just thought he was in the hospital, not the woods. Anyway, in this case being out of the woods is a good thing, they tell me. They're still going to keep him and do tests and things to him for a few days. I don't care for that, but it seems there's nothing to be done about it.

We're sorry there are not any new pictures. Or old ones. All Blog Mom has had time for are basic pupdates.  We both want to thank you all again for your good thoughts and well wishes. I'm sure they did the trick. Blog Mom said that Daddy's vet admitted that Daddy had him scared there for a while, but no one is scared now. So, that's good. Tomorrow should be the same as today. More hospital time than posting time for Blog Mom. I do wish they'd let me go there. I'm sure that a few face licks would set Daddy right up.

A Happy Song and a Sad

Well it took all day to get on the computer, and I'm not even on the right one, but that's a whole other story. When I logged on I saw this wonderful post at Bolo's blog. A song for me, Lola. If it's OK with him I'm going to copy it and put it on a keepsake page, which I just decided I need to have. That was such a gallant gesture. It just makes a bitch feel really special, you know what I mean?  Thank you so much Bolo. I needed that, because here comes the sad in the next paragraph.

My Daddy is in the hospital. He just had a regular vet appointment this morning. He has lots of those. Blog Mom thought he didn't seem totally well so she decided to drive him there and he lost something called consciousness while he was there and apparently no one could find it. The vet called an ambulance to take him to the hospital and that's where he'll be, probably for a couple of days while they do lots and lots of tests on him. So, if in the next few days I don't always get around to visit everyone, that's probably why. I'll try to keep you updated when I can. I'm going to try to catch up with as many friends as I can right now.

Nurse Lola Has Been Doing Double Shifts

I have been hard at work since last we met. On Monday Blog Mom came home from work feeling sick. It just got worse overnight. If it's not one of them it's the other.

It's good thing Daddy was feeling well on Tuesday. He took her to the vet and she got some really huge pills. She's not the best patient in the world. She's not exactly the stoic type either.  She spent most of yesterday moaning and whining. I suggested that she might feel better if I took her out in the fresh air. A nice brisk walk  is good for the health.  That was quite self-sacrificing because it was raining on and off but she didn't want to do that anyway. How about playing with a dog, then? There's really nothing to set one to rights like a little tug of war or a bit of a romp which culminates in a 45 lb mass of muscle careening into one, is there? No to that suggestion as well.

Next she started clutching her tummy with the hand that wasn't affixed to the heating pad and complained that the big pills were upsetting her stomach. Well, first off, she didn't take them the right way.  You're supposed to wrap them in cheese. That's how I take my colchicine. She just took hers with a glass of water. Nonetheless, I felt confident I could help with the  new problem. I have had some occassional experience in the area of  tummy aches. We'll go out and find some good grass for you to eat, I told her. I'll point out patches that I've never peed on. Eat that, and then you can come in and vomit on the carpet. That works a charm for me, but no, she didn't want to do that either. Really, if you're not going to help yourself, how do you expect me to help you is what I want to know. She said it was just nice to have me around,  Well, that's a given, but  it doesn't seem enough somehow.

Despite herself, she's starting to feel better this afternoon and expects to be able to go back to work tomorrow if things continue this way. I hope so. I need to rest and regroup.
