Company for me, Lola!

What a day yesterday turned out to be. Really it was more last night. Most of the day was pretty regular. Morning nap, watched a ball game with Daddy, had an afternoon nap. Pleasant enough, but just a regular Tuesday. I had no idea we were having guests in the evening. Soon after Blog Mom came home some very special family friends arrived. They live in Massachusetts, so it's not an every day thing. And this time the company wasn't just humans. Not that I don't love the humans. They are totally pawsome, but so are the dogs.

This was the best we could do for a group shot with the three of us.That's Biko on the left. He's a hound mix, I think, and lots of fun to run around with. And on the right is  Natchitoches, who is a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix. As you can imagine, he's just so smart and self possessed. He was born to snoopervise things and he knows it.

Even so, he does have his playful moments. Please excuse our blur. Blog Mom's camera is no match for our speed.

Of course, the first thing we had to do was get reacquainted. I'd only met the boys once before and that was a year ago. I was so new here myself then that I didn't know if they were company or new arrivals. Now I can tell the difference.

As you might be able to tell from the photo above,  Natchitoches has a nubbin tail. No one knows why, but his mother had one, too.

Oh, Biko! You smell marvelous! What kind of cologne is that?

Eau de cheddar, perhaps?

Then the back yard turned into a mini dog park for a while

Let the good times roll, I say!

I introduced them to Sambuca. I felt like such the hostess dog doing that.

Biko is absolutely the only one of us who is any good at posing for photos.

Of course we had to run back and say "Hi!" to my Husky Pei neighbor who wanted to know what was going on.

I have to admit to being a bit pawstruck by  Natchitoches. He's so mature and worldly wise and such a gentledog, too. I can't help but sort of follow him around a lot of the time.

Actually, I follow him everywhere he goes, if at all possible.

OK. If you're going inside, I think I'll go inside, too. Will you be my guru?

All good things must end, I suppose, which is too bad, really. They're gone now, back in Massachusetts, getting ready for their next cross country trip in their Mommy and Daddy's RV. They took one just this past winter, with their Mommy and Daddy and Grandma and their six kitty brothers and one kitty sister.  Oh, and there's also their Yorkie brother Norton, who didn't join us yesterday because there was some concern that in all the excitement I might mistake him for a squirrel. I do have a rather strong prey drive and there was a lot of excitement, so those concerns might, in fact, have been justified. But I digress. They all spent weeks in  one RV going all over the country and they all got home safe and in good condition. I told you they were special. I hope it's not a whole year before they come back. I miss them already, but at least they left abundant peemail behind for me to peruse here at home.

  1. Lola-Bola,
Natchitoches is the same breed as my doggie daddy! Good choice!

  2. Having company is so much fun! I love it when our labracousins come to say hello.

My mom had an Australian Shepard when she was a teenager, and she said that some of them are born with docked tails. Aunt Julie has one purebred Aussie and one who's half Australian Shepard and half Border Collie. Half the dogs in the litter were born with docked tails, and half had border collie tails. Maybe that's the mystery behind your friend's tail.

P.S. I heard that your harness was ready and in the mail. You should see it soon!

  3. Hi, Lola!
Wow! Sure you had a great time with your friends visiting you!
I hope you can see them again soon!
    Kisses and hugs

  4. You really had a pawsome time with the visitors, Lola... and the way you sniff is so pei :) ... nice bandana btw... hope a reunion with Biko and Natchitoches is on the cards.

    Licks, hero

  5. Lola... Where do we begin? Well, we'll start with your behind. Nice butt shots girlfriend. We loves having company too! But our yard doesn't accommodate as many furry friends as yours does! Niiicceee! We want to come over and play.

    Stella, Gunther and Betty

  6. What a fun day you had, Lola! Personally, I love having woofie visitors. Wish I could visit you too!

  7. Oh girl,I'm so very much greenvious you gots to have company.
I had some yessteerrday...well more like an enemy. It was da heating man and he was in MY yard. I skeered him off though, after he finished fixing the heat!
I like Border Collies...they is very smartical...not as smart as the Puddles however.

  8. Lola you are one fantastic hostess with the mostest skills. You provided your guests with physical exercise, lots of sniffing opportunities, meeting new friends and most of all you shared your yard!!! If I ever take a road trip (not likely since I had car rides) I'll be sure to stop by to visit you. Great post. Mom and Dad are meeting up with their friends from CA this weekend who are also driving across country in an RV with their handsome Golden Retriever Raider. Mom will take lots of pictures.

  9. miss lola,
how totally funsies that you got to have company!
i think you have a super duper backyard for hosting. natchitoches must be a way smart guy...i bet he could teach the booker man lots of stuff 'n thingies. and biko looks like he enjoys a good zoomie and some wrestlin', which i totally approve of. heehee.
i hope you get to see again soon! maybe you could sign up to go in the RV with all of them!
    the booker man

  10. Lola - you truly are the most spectacular hostess! And your yard is just to die for! I luvs it and wishes I could come over and play sometime. Those peoples ARE very special to travel with that many dogs and kittehs all in one very much small space. Gosh, my mom says she can hardly imagine it! I hope they come back real soon and we gets to see more pictures of them.

    Wiggles & Wags,

PeeS. Wow! You lived in the same city as Nooyor Kitty?? Gosh, you must be very Most Brave!

  11. Lola, You look like you had so much fun with your friends.. It is always nice to have friends over to play.

We have good news in NH there was a grey dog Named Remi who is he same breed as you was finally found yesterday! He was missing since Feb 16, he ran away from his new family, because he was missing his previous family. He lived out in the woods and managed to stay safe from all the wildlife here. We are glad to say he will be moving back home with the family he loved and missed so much!

  12. What great fun you must have had!! Biko and I look so similar.. I wonder if maybe we're relatives.. that would be cool! Did you get the neighborhood barking with all of the introductions?

  13. Petsitgal, I'd like to hear more about Remi. Imagine being out in the NH woods in the winter. Brrrr. I'm so glad his original family is keeping him, but I wonder how the whole thing happened to begin with.

Zona, you could be family. Who knows. Biko is from Lousiana but I don't know if he was anywhere else out first.

  14. Sounds (and looks) like a great and fun day, love the pictures!

  15. Looks like you were having a great time with your friends and the pictures are pawsome. I can't wait to have my next date with my Tiger to wear my new dress.

  16. That looked like so much fun!! I LOVED the pictures!!!!

  17. Momma says that friends really never leave you because they can live in your ♥.

  18. Hi Lola,
I forgot to thank you for your comment about my "Fear of Flying" post and I feel much better now that I know that I'm not the only one who fears low flying birds but I'm sorry the fear of birds runs in your family. So I hear you like chasing birds, huh? And do you pull your owners around when you are out on your walks to see those birdies? I hope not...heehee!
By the way, I started a FLOPPY-EARED CAPTION CONTEST last night & I hope you will think really hard about a good caption b/c there's a prize involved that your pawrents might like!
    See you later!

  19. Happy Saturday Lola!!!
We hope you and the family are all doing well today,
    madi and mom

    Wags, Ginger n Buddy

  21. Hi Lola! What a pawsome time with your friends! You're the best hostess! Hope you can meet them soon! Your neighbors look nice too! Beautiful pictures! Thor xx

  22. Hey! Those doggies were from Massachusetts just like ME! I did not recognize them, though, so I don't think we are neighbors. They seemed quite excited to see you and it looks like a great party.
