This is smile inducing stuff. It's the Halloween Dog Parade in Tompkins Square Park. Alpha Mom used to live right there, but a long time ago. I think it was about 87 years ago. Anyway, it was before they had this parade happening. In fact, as it's been explained to me city parks were mainly used for drug deals and homeless people back then. The photo above is a picture from a previous year. I couldn't find any from this year that were OK to post, but there's a great Flickr set with tons of photos. It's All Rights Reserved so I can't post it, but you can go see it Right Here.
Meantime, neither Franklin nor I have Halloween costumes. I don't mind so much for myself, but Franklin would look so natural in a vampire type cape.
That sounds kind of fun. We will check out the pictures!

We just cracked up laughing at all the pictures! Thanks for a great laugh, loved them all, the lobster in the pot is super cute.
ReplyDeleteNo costumes? There's still time! A spooky bandanna would look wonderful on you. I'm off to check out the photos.
ReplyDeleteWags,
Zona
Oh mys those were cute! I especially liked the crab and Oscar the Grouch - though I'm wondering how long they had to spend in the salon for that pawticular look.

Hey Lola! Looks like everypup had a great time! There were some photos that I couldn't quite figure out....like the chi in the superman costume on top of the human monkey. Hehehe! Thanks for the giggles!
ReplyDeleteSnuggles,
Twix
Wow, there were some great costumes at that parade. No costumes here this year either. Not sure why, but we are very happy about it.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.

You've still got time to come up with costumes if you want some! Or, you can get some cute Halloween collars or bandanas and be festive that way. We always have a ton of fun for Halloween no matter what we wear!
ReplyDeleteBunny
Hey Lola, guess what - my mama used to live near Tompkins Square Park, too, on east 11th Street. This was back in the mid-90's. It would be funny if they were there at the same time.
ReplyDeleteYour pal, Pip
Lots of costumes!
ReplyDeleteBut... the humans looked happier than the doggies!
Thanks for sharing it!
Kisses and hugs

Don't worry. Eva doesn't have her own costume either.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, we don't want a halloween costume ruining your pretty looks!!!
I've done the costume thing, just to please mom!! and she went and added fangs :( I'll be putting up a post sometime before Halloween and I'm going to Luna's Halloween Party!
ReplyDeleteSee Yea George xxx
HEy Lola,
ReplyDeleteAre u VERY intersted in costumes, honestly? we aren't too fond of them. But it is always very nice to see everydoggy wear them and look festive.
Isn't it great that the parks are being put to such sensible use now?
Btw, are u coming to Luna's Howloween bday pawty?
Now, we gotta wear something and we don't have ANYTHING to wear too.
hav a nice day,
Gin n Bud
Morning Lola,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day the puppies must have had strutting their stuff. Great photos on the link.
Happy Sunday to you all too and thanks for sharing. Many years ago mom ran into a animal halloween parade. The funniest thing she was was a 'rat terror'....dressed as a Harley Biker dude. All decked out in leather.
Hugs Madi and Mom
I think you would both look grrrreat in cawstooms. Bandanas would work!! I'm just sayin'. Loved the parade pics. THANKS.
ReplyDeleteHeehee! poor Franklin!
ReplyDeleteLicks,
Ruthie
HelLola! Well, we would like to see you in funny costumes but as we are not so fond of clothing either we understand your pro-nudist position.

P.S. We almost wound up with 'Pei siblings! There were a pair of seniors in poor health at the SPCA for MONTS but fortunately they found a foster home who just couldn't let them go. All doggies deserve love!
Hi Lola,
ReplyDeleteThose photos were a hoot - not sure about the poor doggies who had to undergo a die-job though, all seems a bit permanent to us! FH simply adored the cutie who was Captain Nacho Sparrow - what a sweet costume! Thanks for the giggles!
Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.
